I am sure everyone interested in startups has heard of the Slush event. Originally from Helsinki (Finland) it made its way to Asia with the first Slush Asia in 2015. Meanwhile it split up into Slush Tokyo, Slush Shanghai, and Slush Singapore.
Anyway, the other week Slush Tokyo 2018 took place at Big Sight Tokyo with ~6000 attendees, ~600 startups, ~200 investors, and ~300 media - according to the organizers - "bigger and better than ever".
I was there and while it might have been "bigger and better than ever" - smth was missing. Don't get me wrong, it was a really cool event with lots of opportunities - keep it up! What I would really love to see though is that they adapt a bit more to the needs of the location and market - and I don't mean to make it all in Japanese. The startup ecosystem in Japan needs development in certain areas and it would be cool to see bigger brands too tackle some of those deficits. And actually that would then push you to get even more "bigger and better". Easier said than done and I don't have insights and answers but ~just thinking out loud here....
Who joined the event and how was it for you?
